Why do EE keep running credit checks?

I have recently joined EE and can see they ran a credit check when I joined, but have now done another hard search today, does anyone know why they need to do multiple? As if making my score go down.

Have you recently tried adding another device to your account?

 

Or have you tried adding any bundles etc?
