keep getting this error message in gmail when trying to import my orange emails:
Could not validate this combination of email address and password. If you are sure your password is correct, sign in to your other mail provider to confirm and complete any necessary captchas or image verification tests and then try the import again.
putting correct orange email address in (name@orange.net) and password, POP server pop.orangehome.co.uk and POP username as name@orange.net I click on continue and get above error.
Please can anyone help????

Hello @SueHam try following these steps as closely as you can. Please do let me know if you get stuck on any of them:
First change your webmail password. To do this log in to webmail:
Then while you are logged in open up another tab and use this link to access your profile page where you can change your password:
https://web.orange.co.uk/id/profilemanagement.php
When you have changed your webmail password close the profile tab, log out of webmail and log back in using the new webmail password then send a test email to yourself or anyone and log out.
Log back in and try the 'receive POP password by SMS' option again. If this does not work then it would have to be customer service who can hopefully check or reset it.

Hi,
I believe other posters have logged into their Orange email account and then changed their password then it seems to work with the new password.
Thanks

What password are you using? Your Webmail pwd or your POP3 pwd. They may not be the same if you've ever changed either. It wants your POP3 pwd. They did start the same, so if you've never changed your POP3 pwd, you need your original pwd.

How do i get my POP password - I can't remember it and although there is a link in seetings of orange email for them to send it by text it won't send it.............

I shall try and do this and let you know

POP3 pwd by SMS hasn't worked for years.
You need to remember your original pwd you had on that a/c. or you're stuffed .
Are you getting your Orange.net emails into any email client anywhere?
17-03-2017 11:08 AM
Looks like I might be stuffed then - don't think I can remember my original password.
Not getting orange.net emails anywhere - except in orange email - which for now I can still access.

Hello @SueHam sorry to hear you are having problems remembering/retrieving your POP password. Can you log in to webmail and try the 'receive POP password by SMS' option again please? I have just tested the feature this morning and it has worked for me.
Here is the link to log in to webmail online. :

Hello @SueHam have you migrated the Orange number over to EE now or is it still on the Orange network? Have you spoken to the specialist email team about it? The number to call them is 0800 079 0324 from any phone.

my phone number which is linked is now EE
I shall try that number as when I used the 150 number no-one seems to be able to help
thanks

YAY - thank you - changed my password and tried to import and it has worked. Thank you so much for your help. Can't believe just doing that worked? wonder why it didn't recognise the password I had - very strange. but happy now it seems to have worked - it just says may take a few hours to import, which is the norm I presume?

changed my password and the import seems to now work Thank you for helping me

Did you manage to get your POP3 pwd by SMS after you followed @Profile closed's procedure?

Hello @SueHam great news I am very glad to hear the import feature is now working for you, thank you for letting me know.
As @XRaySpeX mentioned does the 'receive POP password by SMS' now work for you? It may be best waiting until after the import has completed before you test it just to be safe. Yes the import can take anything from several hours to several days to complete depending on the amount of emails there are for gmail to fetch.
17-03-2017 01:31 PM
Haven't tried. Some emails have been imported already - just waiting for the rest. so hopefully don't need POP password as it may not be needed, but may just try to see if it works - after I have imported all my emails.
17-03-2017 01:34 PM
No problem @SueHam let us know how you get on if you have the time. Hopefully the import goes smoothly for you from now on.
17-03-2017 01:37 PM
I can't see how you can do the Import without the POP3 pwd unless by some coincidence it is the same as your changed Webmail pwd.
