Re: EE WiFi Calling: All you need to know

I have a Huawei P30 PRO and prior to one of the last updates, wifi calling worked fine and kicked in when I had poor signal at home (2 bars or less). It now will not kick in at all if there is even a single bar. Is this how this feature works now as that makes it useless at home where a single bar is achievable, however calls are dropped so using it is not.

Hi @quentin_rayner.

Were you able to get the information you needed on your other thread?

Re: EE WiFi Calling: All you need to know

Can you confirm the information in that thread is correct? The Android update has updated the logic in that it will stick with the mobile network even with a weak signal (e.g. 1 bar)?

If that is the case then wifi calling is pretty much useless in my house as I cannot get more than 1 bar and this is not strong enough to make or receive reliable phone calls. I get repeatedly dropped calls.

Re: EE WiFi Calling: All you need to know

@quentin_rayner

EE didnt make the change to make it prefer the mobile network signal.

It was done when devices were updated to Andeoid P.

It is google that made this decision.

Re: EE WiFi Calling: All you need to know

Hi @quentin_rayner.

Did you try using airplane mode as suggested?

Have you tried WiFi Calling on someone else's WiFi too?

Re: EE WiFi Calling: All you need to know

I'm getting exactly the same issue. I've been on with EE tech support all afternoon with no luck. All they have done is re-enable WiFi calling. Yet it still no longer functions following android update.

it worked flawlessly before.
