Re: Why is EE connection just so HORRIBLY SLOW. Why cant it just maint

I changed over recently to EE broadband after years of having a satisfactory service from BT.
The only benefit is that EE is cheaper.
It's the slowest I've ever used and frustrating plus the "technical experts" in the Indian call centre aren't helpful in anyway, resorting to "have you turned it off and on again" scripts.
EE don't care. I'm told on the phone that EE are the fastest broadband in the uk and I'm wrong.

Screw you - in 12 months I'm going back to BT and can't wait.

Re: Why is EE connection just so HORRIBLY SLOW. Why cant it just maint

Looks like it's happening to me too. After several years of a great connection and speeds of around 12mbs, last Sunday (6 July), we were unable to maintain a connection for more than a few minutes. It's improved then only disconnecting every hour or so but the speed has nosedived and is getting slower all the time - down to 2mbs on Saturday, 1mbs yesterday and just 0.5mbs this morning.

Several long phone calls have resulted in me having to move my router, unscrew phone points, and being told to look for a master phone socket that we do not have. It's driving me mad.

Would the fact that BT are doing fibre optic work in the area have any impact on speeds from the exchange? And I will happily admit I don't understand how these things work - I just want to switch my pc on and enjoy browsing at decent speeds!

Absolutely terrible customer service - long waits, people reading scripts to you, inability to transfer you so you have to call another number and go through the thing from scratch, refusal to even consider that there might be a problem in the first ten days of service and my personal bete noir which is serial bulls..t get you off the line e.g. one agent tells you that they can see you are getting the correct line speed then another says it is too soon to tell after you point out that you were promised 5 times the actual speed in writing.

Just to update EE have sent BT openreach round who found defective connections in the street and have fixed it. Line speed now excellent. One happy customer here!

Re: Why is EE connection just so HORRIBLY SLOW. Why cant it just maintain the Or

I agree, I've had EE broadband for a month and I am in absolute awe of how terrible it has been. We regularly have speeds of less than 0.5 Mbps, and it makes doing virtually anything online impossible. The internet also regularly cuts out, it's just completely horrendous. The service is terrible, the quality of internet is terrible and not only will they lose a customer from their internet service but almost definitely a mobile user as well.

Re: Why is EE connection just so HORRIBLY SLOW. Why cant it just maintain the Or

I have found our rate dire in recent months and desperate most recently.  Despite the line being good for 2.5Mbps when line tests are run I cannot recall seeing more than 1Mbps from EE, and now it fluctuates between timing out on any internet acces or 0.1Mbps, according to Broadband Speed Checker,  I've resited the ADSL Modem to the house point of entry, but to no benefit.  Finding who to call when your available bandwidth is practically in the Dial Up era is no fun at all.  For some reason, I have a much higher Upload speed than download speed according to the line checker.

Speed of the internet should be:

-EE Broadband average speeds are upto 17Mb/sec

-EE Fibre average speeds are upto 76Mb/sec

If the spedd is less than the above mentioned description, then it might be due to disturbance in the phone lines, or it may be modem problem. For better advice you must visit EE Customer service.

Re: Why is EE connection just so HORRIBLY SLOW. Why cant it just maintain the Or

Hi @austingrace,

Just for clarity, the speeds you have quoted are the maximum speeds available. The actual speed a customer receives will depend on several factors, including the distance from the exchange.

Thanks

@austingrace: By "disturbance in the phone lines" you actually meant to say "distance from exchange or cab".
