my landline is saying that the phone is in use and a call cannot be made??

Hi, i am trying to use the landline but it is saying that the phone is in use and a call cannot be made??

@Sarah1232: Is that immediately you pick it up w/out getting any dialling tone or after you dial a no?

Hi @Sarah1232 and welcome to the community.

 

This may sound like a silly question, do you have more than one handset (if you use cordless phones)

 

I have had that very issue, my little one was sitting on a phone and dialled *, this in turn did not allow us to use the phone.
