is there traffic management in place for the ADSL (usual phone line) customers?

Hi there,

I was wondering if there is traffic managment in place for the normal ADSL (usual phone line infrastructure) customers.

If so, can someone please guid me as i am in search of a good broadband providor who doesn't throttle the speeds that is advertised.

Cheers,

No. See EE Broadband Traffic Management Policy .

So is that PDF file a declaration of EE stating that theres no traffic managment in place what so ever, including the phone line operator (OPENREACH/BT) has no right to throttle or alter the speeds of the broadband, is this correct?

Thanks

Yes. However BTw can band the BB speed in the event that the line is playing up in order to stabilise it. This will be the same from all ISPs.

Hi @BahiJaam21 and welcome to the community.

Please do follow the wonderful advice given on the stance of traffic management here at EE by @XRaySpeX

I have also found information relating to BT Traffic Management.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks,

Lee

@Lee_H: The BT TM policy has no relevance to EE BB users. That's BT Retail, another separate ISP.

The profile banding I'm talking about is applied by the Dynamic LIne Management (DLM), monitoring the line continuously, which is controlled by BT Wholesale, the supplier of BB to most ISPs.

Hi @XRaySpeX

The user mentions BT in a post further up.

I thought the customer was enquiring about all providers 🙂

Many thanks,

Re: is there traffic management in place for the ADSL (usual phone line) custome

@Lee_H: OP did mention the underlying line provider as OR or BT probably w/out realising the separate divisions of BT & how they operate.

For ADSL the underlying BB provider is BT Wholesale, not Openreach. OR only maintain the physical infrastructure but have no hand in the ADSL BB itself. It's all so complicated :(.
