Why is my internet dropping out?

Been with EE broadband for a couple months now and no problems whatsoever.

Yesterday noticed the internet is VERY slow and keeps dropping out.  Same problem today even though I have rebooted the router twice.

I did a speed test and my result came back as 1.06mb against my average speed for the area of 5.0 mb.  I don't claim to know much but that is ridiulous yes?

Are there any tips as this interfers with things such as casting netflix and I am job hunting at the moment.  All very well using my data on my phone instead but you cannot complete applications properly on that.
