I have upgraded my broadband from fibre to fibre+ with EE , was running brightbox 2 so asked for new smart hub.... It arrived, I connected it, light went red!
EE then sent me a 2nd hub as first might be faulty....same result as 1st hub. After 2 hours on phone to CS I was told that the router is stuck in "walled garden" a CS rep was supposed to call me back today to help "open the gate"
I am sat at home waiting on call instead of going to the pub to watch the rugby 😡😡
Has anybody ever had experience of "walled garden" and how to get past it?.

Never heard of it in the context of a router. Maybe they grew up with AOL Inc.
Can't you just put the BB2 back in? As far as it's concerned Fibre + is the same as Fibre. Fibre+ = Fibre w/out the 40 Meg cap. The BB2 is far superior functionally than the EE SH.

@XRaySpeX i have plugged my BB2 back in, it's 3 years older and very temperamental.
Its crazy that I have spent more that 2 hours of my life trying to get something to work that should just plug in and work.... I feel a discount coming on if I don't get a call back from Cs today 🤬 the agent in question is working until 8pm so there is some hope he might call.

Sorry, but did the BB2 work?

@XRaySpeX yes the BB2 works but keeps resetting itself.
CS have called back, engineer coming out Wednesday morning.....lets see if he can get it out of the "Walled Garden" 😂

Engineer (Open reach) came out today and spent 1.5 hours in the house, changed wall socket, ran lost of test, called EE for help and still nothing. BB is working at 60+ Meg but still neither of the 2 smart hubs will connect to the Internet ( not so smart are they 😡) waiting on someone to call me from EE technical department.

What BB Username is the router showing?
‎20-03-2019 07:04 PM
@XRaySpeX was showing "production something, engineer changed it to "ready" something and still nothing.... Factory reset and went back to original setting 🤔

Put your BB Username and password in manually and try to connect

What do you call "original setting", readytoconnect@fs or PRODUCTIONHQNUN123456@fs ?
Which is it?

@XRaySpeX both of the smart hubs are defaulting to production etc
We tried manually changing the user name but still would not connect.
When I say we I mean myself and Cs agent over phone and when engineer was out yesterday he also spoke with Cs agent while doing the same 🤔

Eh? Isn't "production etc" your BB username? If not, what are you changing it to?
‎21-03-2019 11:20 AM
@XRaySpeX to be 100% honest I have lost track of what settings and usernames broadband names have been changed, what they should be, what they are now.....what is annoying me most is that the first smart hub should have just plugged in and worked .... I have lost near 8 hours of my life to a stupid broadband router 😡 not happy one bit that the "new technology" just does not work

BB users' BB usernames don't change once they are assigned by EE..
One of these options may help you find the answers you need.
