I was thinking about switching to EE from my current ISP. But have a few queries.
Is it still the case that EE doesn't offer IPv6 to broadband customers, and if so, has there been any estimates on when it might be avaliable?
Is EEs Broadband network up to the same standard as BTs broadband network? Can I expect the same standard of peering and transit agreements, latency and packet loss, IP address's, backhaul arrangements and speed, as BT?
Does EE not have any network level parental controls/blocking potentionally bad websites? Only Norton which is for clients?
I'd like to commence an order for EE broadband as soon as possible, so I may redeem some of the current offers, however my current contract expires in 2-3 month.
Is anyone aware, if I can order the package, and then ask for a delay of activation, and if needed several times, to push it back to my current contract expiry date?
Does the EE smart hub have the same specficiations as BTs smart hub?

What I mean is, can I ask some questions about your experience of EE broadband even though it would be about 80Mb FTTC, and it would be applicable?
No, it'll be diff before the exchange. ADSL is carried over the landline direct to the exchange. Fibre is carried via the Fibre cab to the exchange.
Sorry, I don't conduct technical discussions over PMs other than for obtaining any necessary private info.

I'm probably phrasing it wrong, but I mean the network portion after the exchange, in the sense, after the data has been carried from the user over ADSL, FTTC or FTTP to the exchange and then to EE's network.
User > FTTC > Exchange > EE's Network > Internet. Is how I believe it works, I may be wrong though
Is this part of the network the same for FTTC and ADSL users at EE?

Yes, as far as the user is concerned it'll not be diff after the exchange. Altho' in same cases the exchange itself can be diff between Fibre & ADSL, when the local exchange is not equipped for Fibre but some other 1 is.
The route is more like:
User > BB > Exchange > BT Backhaul > Handoff Node to EE > EE's Network > Internet.

So the following questions and answers should be applicable to me if I ordered 80Mb even though you're on ADSL?
Aside from speed of course and maybe 15ms at most of extra latency due to line lengths, location in the uk, and one being ADSL and the other FTTC, right?
According to some users and staff on ThinkBroadband, it appears some users of EE's Broadband network have a long "ramp"/duration (around 4 seconds it seems) to get to full download speeds in comparison with other users/ISPs which is near instant. And this could result in noticable longer loading times of webpages and other use of the internet.
I think this would be an impediment of me joining EE, so I want to try to look into it slightly more and make a decision of whether to switch.
As it seems some users don't have the speed ramp, I am hoping this is an issue with the routers/modems that EE provides, and not a large scale network issue.
As far as I can gather, EE has provided different routers over the years to their users, the bright box, the bright box 2, and the smart hub.
I hope the issue would be with the older bright boxes having an issue with ramping up load or something, and that the smart hub, being pretty much identical to the BT smart hub wouldn't have this issue.
Do you know if on your EE ADSL connection you have a long ramp up to get to full download speeds?
And if you don't mind me asking, do you have an EE provided router or your own more configuable router?

Where? Linky please? Most users of any ISP will have some sort of ramp. I only see a short ramp.
I wouldn't hope that an EE SH is any better than a Brightbox. The "Smart" is just marketing hype.
I have both; the BB2 for everyday & the EE SH solely for answering Qs on here. I prefer the BB for its greater functionality & greater configurability.

I can't see why its happening but the first link (
Its appending some random characters to the end of the url when you click on it and it causes a 404.
I tried editing the post, but it still appends the random characters and all the other links are working fine.
Copying and pasting the first link seems to work fine though as it displays correctly in the post.

BB2 supports 802.11ac but only has 1 gigabit port. I'd still prefer it over SH. Recent doesn't mean any better.

Do you think have any views/opinions on the posts and the speed ramping?
I'm guessing I would recieve the Smart Hub as I'd be joining EE for the first time and don't personally have a Bright Box. I thought the BB2 was only n wireless.

I wonder whats causing it, if you don't mind me asking, is this on the Bright Box 2 or the Smart Hub and is it over gigabit ethernet?

BB2. As I said the SH is solely for answering Qs here off-line. Yes, Gigabit but it doesn't come into it as Up speed is 1/1000th of that. I would guess that ramp up time is inversely proportional to speed. Slow ADSL Up speed -> Long ramp-up.
Remember that you are not paying ISPs for speedtests' throughput speeds.
