Router login

I have my own router rather than one from orange.

My freeserve address is needed to log in to my internet connection.

Will I have to change this address because of the orange closure?

I have already set up and am using a new email account.

Re: Router login

No, your BB Username is not affected by the email closure. Altho' it resembles your Freeserve email addy, it is just a unique string of chars that IDs you to the EE servers.

Re: Router login

I've been having second thoughts on this.Perhaps I didn't give enough info?

I have an old Netgear DG834G router. When I want to check settings etc. initially the server asks for my username and password-no problem with this. Then Under Basic Settings I see:

Login:  me.freeserve.co.uk@fs

Orange Password: ************

which is the part I am asking about.

This is not the same as the string of characters I have to give others to access my router and which appears under Security Encryption.

Just trying to make sure I'm not left high & dry on 31st May!

Yes, it isn't same. The latter are the WiFi creds, SSID + pwd. These are completely independent of the BB login & your email addy and cannot be affected by the email closure on 31 May.

Re: Router login

Hi @1oldgit

This sounds like you are describing your WiFi password, which wont change, so do not worry.

Cheers

Re: Router login

It's OK. I misread your post at 1st. I thought you were using the DG834G just for checking the settings rather than as your main router.

You should phone EE for a Brightbox. It's a bit faster than the DG834G but you can't tweak the NM if that's what you are doing.
