Packet Loss when streaming to Twitch

I have been having on going issues with packet loss while streaming to Twitch.

The broadband team have ran numerous test on my line with no problems showing on their end.

I am getting on average 30mbps download and 5mbps upload. I am told my line is capable of 41mbps (down) but I have never reached that.

I know 5mbps is not the best upload speed hence me limiting my bitrate in OBS studio to 3500 @ 1080p 60 fps to allow some extra bandwith on the upload rather than maxing it out.

My problem is that when I am streaming my current game (Fortnite) I am receiving packet loss on the upload flickering between 1-5% sometimes higher which would not usually happen when I am streaming.

I have ran my own tests by pinging and found that the most packet loss is coming from this IP which google tells me is something to do with BT.

I rely heavily on my internet as I work from home streaming.

When I rang EE up they told me to basically leave and move to virgin media although this isn't available where I am yet.

I explained I would just like the problem fixed which they tell me they are not given the tools by BT to diagnose packet loss problems.

I hope you guys can help me with this. As EE has always been a reliable internet provider for myself before I recently started streaming.

Please see router stats below.

Thank you,

Re: Packet Loss when streaming to Twitch

Welcome to EE's Home Broadband Forum.

If you would like help with your BB speed or connection issues, please would you carry out the following steps for starters, which will enable us to diagnose the problem and advise you further. Do not restart your router to do these tests:

1. Try a wired speedtest, using an Ethernet cable supplied with the router, here . Click on the "Results Page" button at the bottom of the graph you first see and then copy to here just the "Link to this result:" link that you see below the next main graph.

2. What exchange are you connected to? If you don't know use: and post the URL of your exchange page.

3. What does BT Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number, use the Address Checker, not the Postcode Checker.

4. Plese do a tracert to both & your game server.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.
