Internet connection randomly dropping oit

Hi there.

 

The internet is randomly dropping out. It make go off for a minute or so and then come back on. It can happen in quick succession or it can go for lame hours with no issues. 

 

I've posted a few bits  below but removed ip  addresses.. I did a power cycle today but only because I had to move the router to plug in a wired device. Usually it doesn't get switched off.

Thanks for replying. Updated my initial message as when I tried to type into the body originally, it kept taking me to another EE page rather than allowing me to type. I'm using my mobile for this.

 

I will do the steps you suggest later when I get time today.

It's a Draytek 2710 so I'll have to telnet into it later to get the stats you need.

l telneted in to the router just now and below is what it gave me.

 

Its lost the internet several times today. Sometimes it might do it 2-3 times in quick sucession and then be find for a couple of hours.

 

I only siwtched it on and off once today and that was earlier this morning and I needed to move it slightly so I could plug wire in my laptop ethernet cable.

On the discon issue, your router gives no error counts, so that avenue of investigation is out.

 

How long has this been happening?

 

Reboot the router & try plugging it into the hidden test socket that is revealed when you remove the bottom half of the split faceplate (2 screws or press tabs) of your master socket. Only do this if you have a split faceplate. Do you have any extension sockets? Are there any wires connected to back of faceplate?

Post the full router stats & System Uptime when plugged into test socket.

Is the issue any better?

Try the BT Quiet Line Test (dial 17070 Opt 2), preferably with a corded phone, in the test socket with the router disconnected. If there is any noise, report to your landline provider as a voice fault (don't mention Broadband). Often sorting out voice faults will fix the Broadband as well.

 

On a speed front, it's going rather slow. You should be syncing at about 15 Meg instead of the 6656 K that you are. The reason you are not is that the DLM system has put you on a banded profile in response to past errors on your line, at the top of the 7th lowest of these ADSL Banded Profiles. You need to give the DLM time to relent & remove any banding. Leave it alone for at least 7 days & don't reset or resync the router. If it's still banded you should then call EE to get the DLM reset in order to remove any banding. However should significant errors persist the DLM will reapply banding.

 

Have you had any faults fixed with your line recently?

The route will be plugged into an extension socket that's for sure.

That could well be the issue if your house wiring isn't perfect.
