EE Smart Hub turning off SSID

I prefer not to broadcast the wifi names/ SSID, it has always been possible to turn this off in Brightbox2 and Technicolor, but I can find no option in the advanced settings of my new Smart Hub. so far this new router seems worse than my old Technicolor unit!!!!!

Can anyone help?

Re: EE Smart Hub turning off SSID

There is no SSID hiding from the EE SH but really there's no point. It's easy for someone scanning to discover your SSID. An SSID is a network name, not a password.

Re: EE Smart Hub turning off SSID

Good Afternoon @Grant333.

Welcome to the community.

The option will either be in the basic or advanced settings, if this is not there I would recommend speaking with our broadband gurus

Thanks, Katie 🙂

Re: EE Smart Hub turning off SSID

Thanks for the reply, but as mentioned there is no option in standard or advanced view to turn off SSID.... not that I can find anyway. Broadband tech didn't know either they suggested posting here..... which I have.... hoping someone may know.

Re: EE Smart Hub turning off SSID

Of course you can scan to find hidden SSID's but it is better not to have it broadcast  IMO, it stops the casual observer from potentially trying to log on. It should be available as an option.

All the same, it's still not on the EE SH.

Re: EE Smart Hub turning off SSID

Thanks for confirming this :smileyhappy: but it should be available, so I hope EE consider adding it with a future software update.

Incidentally how does this latest router compare to my old Technicolor?

Re: EE Smart Hub turning off SSID

Thanks! You're welcome :)! Glad I could be of assistance.

I've no experience of the Technicolor but the EE SH is functionally far weaker than the Brightbox, as you have found out here.

Unlikely! The EE SH is a badge-engineered BT SH 6B & that doesn't have it.
