BB2 wireless router (internet) orange light blinking

Tried unplugging, restarting, using different cables and a different phone line splitter box thing but to no result. Any ideas?

Re: BB2 wireless router (internet) orange light blinking

Welcome to EE's Home Broadband Forum.

Have you just joined EE BB or were you already with EE BB?

How long has it been blinking orange? Has it ever been green?

What does it say after you log into the router:

  • For a BrightBox: in the Internet section on the initial Status page or
  • For a Smart Hub: on the Advanced Settings / Broadband / Internet page?

Obscure your names in the BB Username but post the 1st 2 parts of the IP addy. This will tell us at which stage EE have got to.

Does the phone work? Do you get a dial tone? Does it announce your correct no. when you dial 1470 17070?

Re: BB2 wireless router (internet) orange light blinking

Hello,

No, had this router for almost 2 years now and 5 months in the new address.

It started blinking orange yesterday 4ish am.

I don't use the phoneline so no way of checking.

Well, you have 69 Meg BB. You just haven't been authenticated by the EE network to go onto the wider Net.

You should find msgs in the System Log of the ilk "PPP: CHAP authentication failed".

You could wait until EE notices or you could phone them that they have lost/mislaid/deleted your creds from their CHAP authentication server.

Re: BB2 wireless router (internet) orange light blinking

System log just says PPP: Sending PADI every second.

I did call them and they did a test over the line but could not see a fault aprat from the no internet access which the router says eitherway, so they are sending an engineer on Saturday, just could not be asked to wait and thought I might be able to fix it with the knowladge of the comunnity.

Ah, OK, that means that it's not even getting to the EE network. The link is broken at the hand-off point from the BT backhaul onto the EE network. That is BT's province.

An eng. coming to your home will be a waste of everybody's time.

Waiting is still your best bet as BT is sure to notice it before EE are even aware of it.

Good you notice that repeated sequence :).
