Access control not working

Hi I have a bright box router and I can't get the access control to work. I assigned an IP address to an iPhone and iPad then set the assigned  ip's up to block in access control but it still allows me on the webistes I have blocked. Www and URL blocking is ticked. I presume I'm going wrong somewhere. Is it to do with how an iPhone sends and receives its data?

Many thanks in advance

Re: Access control not working

Hi @Bobgraham

Thanks for coming here 🙂

Have you taken a look at our Bright Box router - firewall features help and support page.

I'd draw your attention to the set up access control drop down box.

There is a great step by step guide.

Cheers

Richard

Re: Access control not working

Mobiles speak the Internet TCP/IP language as everyone else.

What are you using to try to access these sites on the iPhone?

Have said "Always Block"?

Re: Access control not working

Yes I followed the step by step guide. If I tick all of the boxes on the.blocking page. About 15-20?  it cuts the internet off too the device completely but just ticking the top 2 boxes www and URL you can still access everything. Seems strange. Can I call anyone for help? Is there anything else I can try?

Perhaps if you answered my Q about the iPhone I might be able to help.

Re: Access control not working

Ah. OK, just thro' a browser. That should work. It was possible that by using apps they weren't using the HTTP port.

Try blocking Secure HTTP as well.

Re: Access control not working

If I tick secure http it blocks the internet from the device completely and won't allow it on any websites.

Ive tried full website addresses and just key words and can't get it too work.
