do i need to cancel my current plan, even if i am eligible for an upgrade?

I'm looking to upgrade my phone, and i understand that there is a 14 day cancellation period. If I'm due an upgrade anyway, will my previous plan automatically cancel and roll into the new one, or will my old plan need cancelling?

If you upgrade,  your old plan ceases and your new plan starts. It's seamless.

EE standard opening hours are 8am to 9pm weekday, 8am to 8pm on weekends.
