I have recently joined ee on a new contract but messages won't send and my number is not recognised when I try to add it to ee account

@Craigjohnston1 Have you tried restarting the device since joining EE ?
And I would recommend you call customer services about your account issue.

Yes I have a number of times! Called ee they said they can't help me! As I purchased the phone via a third party website it is their issue and needs resolved by them!

Got my phone a couple of days ago but only put the SIM in yesterday as I was away. No just a standard new contract
