Why does EE charge for customer service?

One thing that is bugging me about EE is that it is already expensive, but to add to their profits they charge people who ask for help.

I’ve rang 150 to try and top my phone up. It lets me type in the the voucher number but then just says the system is down. Then tried to put me through to customer services. Customer Services should free, especially at times like this when EE is down

Re: Why does EE charge for customer service?

@Abbie4: EE CS systems have been down since yesterday. See Calling us and using our customer service platforms .

You could try texting VO space 16-digit voucher number to 150.

Re: Why does EE charge for customer service?

Hello @Abbie4,

Welcome to the community,

If you are a pay as you go customer, then you have to pay for your call, but people on monthly contracts and sim only, it is free, that is the advantage of having a monthly contract. I am not sure that EE will change that, although I thought topping up was free to call the number for doing so.

Re: Why does EE charge for customer service

Hi,
I’ve been trying to top my phone up for the past two days. I have important
phone calls that need to be made and it’s impossible to make these calls if
EE’s system is down. It’s really frustrating the fact that I can’t top up
and I can speak to a team member because then I have to top up to do so. It
goes round in circles.

Re: Why does EE charge for customer service

Hi @Abbie4 and welcome to the community.

I understand your frustration, we do currently have an issue with 150.

You can top up via an ATM.

Many thanks,

Lee
