Since received recently Samsung J3 2016 keeps saying Storage low

Hi

Recently got from you a Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) ever since had keeps saying storage low, doesnt update anything.  I clear Cache, doesnt help, I have an SD card which formated and anything downloaded only 5 things are on the card.

How can i stop it saying Storage low please?

Reading online alot had this problem says this worked dialing #9900# ,  and Delete Dumpstate/logcat, but when I tried that does not work that number says connection problem or invalid mmi code when dial that.

Don't know why does it as the same on phone as received.

Anyone have any ideas.

thanks

Shirl

Re: Since received recently Samsung J3 2016 keeps saying Storage low

When you say you have a couple apps downloaded. Yes but what about the ones that have come pre-installed.

Can you go to App Manager and you can disbale/uninstall certain ones.

Does this phone come pre-installed with Microsoft word/excel etc? If you don't use them then disable them?

This phone only has 8GB of data and 3GB of this is being used up by the software.

I would sugest moving everything onto your SD card.

But if your photos are saving to your SD card you sholdnt having to be deleting them to take more.

Re: Since received recently Samsung J3 2016 keeps saying Storage low

Hi @Shirl777

This device only came with 8/16GB of onboard storage which isn't much these days given the size of applications.

If you go into settings and look for device maintenance it will tell you what is taking up the most space.

Thanks

Re: Since received recently Samsung J3 2016 keeps saying Storage low

HI

I had a look.

I deleted the cache and says 93% Used

In Storage:-

Used Space 4.13GB

Available Space 524MB

System Memory 3.36GB

Misc Files 2.70MB

System in Applications:-

Images 1.69MB (one 1 photo on photo)

Applications 366MB

Documents 393KB

Only Applications I have, couple downloaded are:-

My EE 27.3MB

Lookout 44.3MB

Ebay 68.5MB - On SD Card

South Eastern (train app) 16.9MB

Canon Print 53MB

Candy crush 156MB - On SD Card

So not much at all added to phone.

Settings - Device applications - Appication Manager - used space - then all , is that what you mean?  says on there a list of alot mostly android programmes with the green head, nothing as particulary large on there Powerpoint 230MB  Excel 250MB, Google 223MB, Google Play services 251MB, Maps 152MB, Messenger 251MBOne NOte 214MB, Powerpoint 230MB, Word 187MB, you Tube 200MB, they are the highest out that list other are small and like those came with phone.

Not that happy as cant do photos, only got one on there, as uses up space, but cant find another way to make more space to stop it giving me that message.

Do you have any ideas what I can do?

If you want me to look somewhere else on phone let me know.

Thanks for the information @Shirl777

Which software version is on your phone?

Tap Apps >>> Settings >>> About phone.

Re: Since received recently Samsung J3 2016 keeps saying Storage low

Software version won't make much difference only newer onces as the sie would be bigger.

Have you set your photos to save to the SD card rather than to the device?

Open Camera > Settings > Storage Location > Choose SD Card.

This should allow you to save photos then.

What size SD card do you have in there?

Hi

Software Android Version is 5.1.1

Is that what you wanted to know?

I can save photos ok, just I have to remove them for space even thou only like 1MB or less each doesnt make a difference. Just looked says storage location Memory card so thats why no difference to phone space lol Is a 7.28MB SD card 7.15GB available.
