I am currently in tenerife and thought I had set up my phone to work abroad but it wont let me do anything. I have 'no service' and it wont let me use the internet. I have paid my contract and need to contact home. Help!

You need roaming enabled on your account.
@Chris_B can this still be done within MyEE account or does it need to be done by EE themselves.

This looks like Roaming hasn't been activated before you went away.
