Is it free to unlock an Orange PAYG phone?

I have read the guidelines on unlocking PAYG phones but I can't work out whether I would be expected to pay. I bought my phone from an Orange store originally. Any advice would be welcome.

Re: Is it free to unlock an Orange PAYG phone?

Yes, it is free as long as you yourself bought it direct from Orange and not 2nd hand.

You can just apply using the Unlocking your device form as the PAYG option and giving the mobile number that it used to have. It will first show your current phone on that number & ask whether that is the device you want to unlock? If not, you will then have to type in the IMEI of the old phone. You may need to register an online MyEE a/c 1st.

Thanks. That's very helpful. I did buy the phone myself and still have the receipt.
