Malta seems to having a few issues at the moment
Assuming you have roaming enabled on your account and it's worked before abroad, try turning 4G off and doing a manual network search and selecting it that way.
If that doesn't work and you've never had roaming working, your account may not be set up to allow it. Check MyEE under Manage My Device. Does it say roaming is on? You may need to contact EE to change it.

Yeah tried that... then i clicked go mobile and left it ... took 5 minutes to establish a connection... but then it connected...
