I have upgraded from iPhone 6 to 7 and have passed on my old iPhone 6 to a friend that are on giff gaff.
they have told me they have had it unlocked but have had a message saying my details/account are still registered to that iPhone 6 and needs deleting before getting any further.
how do I do this and why do I need to do this?????
This isn't something you are able to do yourself unfortunately. It means that that handset is still linked to your account at EE's end.
You could try requesting the unlock yourself which should be free, details can be found here for that.
Otherwise, your friend will have to go down the 'unlocking a second hand EE device' route which will cost them £8.99.

If you give customer services a call they'll be able to process the unlock free of charge for you.
