Our engineers have been working on installing a lease line (like your home broadband). Because the service problem was a result of tree growth, installing the lease line will prevent any future tree growth impacting service.
This work has now been completed and service has been restored to the area.
Update: 07 October 2019
Over the past few months, we’ve been in discussions with Luton Borough Council, looking to gain permission to access the area and trim the trees to improve 2G and 3G service. Talks are ongoing with the council.
We are continuing to look at alternative ways we can improve coverage in the long term, and we’ll keep updated on this post.
We’re aware that some customers in Luton are experiencing a degraded service, when connected to 2G and 3G.
Currently we have a few masts in the area impacted by tree growth, which is impacting service. We are currently in talks with Luton Borough Council to get permission to trim the trees to improve coverage.
We are also looking at other ways we can improve the service in the area, and we will keep you updated on this post.
In the meantime, if you’re an EE pay monthly customer with a compatible phone you can use WiFi Calling to make and receive calls and texts over a WiFi connection.
