I have an email account (POP3) mail.example.com (SMTP) smtp.freeserve.co.uk.
I am receiving emails at the address but can't send any.
What changes do I need to make to the account settings to be able to send emails?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hello @GavinMcCarthy Orange(Freeserve) SMTP is not active anymore it was shut down along with POP3/IMAP4, webmail and everything else due to the email closure. You will need to change the SMTP settings as well. 🙂

Thanks. What settings do I need to change on the SMTP information to allow me to send emails?

Hello @GavinMcCarthy who is your new email provider? Do they have their own SMTP settings as well as POP3? 🙂

I haven't changed anything, other than disabling an email account with suffix freeserve.co.uk.
The account I'm using is on Windows Live Mail and the PC uses Windows 10.

Hello @GavinMcCarthy you must have a new or another email address e.g an outlook.com/gmail.com email address or you would be unable to receive any new emails? Who is the new provider? Have you checked to see if they have their own SMTP settings? 🙂

Does not your domain host provide their own SMTP? Who is your domain host? Are you taking their email package?
It's not to do with what email client or Windows you are using but everything to do with who is providing your email addy.

Sorry, Tom, if I appear a bit dopey.
The email and reply address is email@example.com
Server is POP3
incoming mail mail.name.com
Outcoming mail smtp.freeserve.co.uk
email username firstname.lastname@example.org
Clear text authentication. Yes
Outgoing mail port 25
Incoming port 110
How do I find out the settings required?
