Am in Oz and my iPhone 5 connected to local network Telstra for a week but now it's just 'searching....' I am with orange. I phoned an apple shop and tried various things but still no network connection. Wifi and VPN work fine. Any help gratefully received.

Have you tried doing a manual networks search (settings>carrier>move toggle) and attempting to connect to each of the networks shown?

Good morning @Michele56
Welcome to community and thanks for coming to see us from Australia 🙂
I know @Peter_C has already offered you support on this.
I was keen to point you towards our Roaming with EE - What to do if you're having problems abroad support article.
There are an abundance of hints, tips and tricks on there for you to read.
Let us know how you get on.
Thanks

Thanks everyone for all the help. I tried lots of things with no luck and finally went to the apple shop in Sydney. The outcome was that the problem of non connection may be the aerial. The phone was up to date and my sim worked perfectly in the assistants phone. I shall wait until I return to the UK and if the problem persists will have to get the phone checked at an Apple Store. I was offered a replacement phone but for 300+dollars.

Morning @Michele56
Thanks for popping back to let us know how you got on.
That's a shame!
Did they advise you to try wiping the phone?
Doing a restore via iTunes can sometimes sort this issue when the carrier settings disappear on an iPhone - if it's software rather than a hardware based fault.
Do you have access to a laptop or PC that you could try that on whilst in Australia?
Thanks - Karen.

Hi @Michele56
Thank you for taking the time to come back to community 🙂
I will be sure to pass this on to @Karen_C
It seems you have a good contingency plan in place and ultimately when you come back to the UK I hope you get the permanent fix in place.
Thanks
Richard
