4GEE Home Router blocked access

Bought 4GEE home router from EE due to restricted broadband speeds with my current provider (BT), however when trying to stream content it doesn't work.

BT Broadband works but stutters due to low speed. EE 4G on my phone works perfectly so definitely the EE router. Both content lock and over 18 lock are are set too off and I can’t find an overall firewall off button in the settings.

Anyone any ideas?

Re: 4GEE Home Router blocked access

Does any browsing or email access work?

Is it on PAYG or contract?

What does it tell you about your data when you go to http://add-on.ee.co.uk/status ?

Can you login to it at http://192.168.1.1 ?

Re: 4GEE Home Router blocked access

You don't login to router to change Content Lock but follow Switching Content Lock on or off .

What site(s) can't you get to?

Re: 4GEE Home Router blocked access

Hi @c7ndo

Just so we can rule out any device issues, please can you pop your router SIM in your phone and test the opposite as well.

Many thanks,

Hi @c7ndo,

What type of device are you connecting to the 4GEE router when streaming?

Thanks

Re: 4GEE Home Router blocked access

Spoke to technical team who are putting it down to the router unable to provide a static IP.

no solution found.

Re: 4GEE Home Router blocked access

Don't believe that! A streaming app does not require any client to have a static IP. Static IPs are only needed when a server wants to make an unsolicited connection to your device. In this case you are asking the server to connect to you & it is responding to your request.

If that were true you wouldn't even be able to browse Amazon.

Re: 4GEE Home Router blocked access

Hi @c7ndo

What happens when you use your phone as a hotspot and connect the MAG box to it?

Many thanks,

Re: 4GEE Home Router blocked access

Hotspot works as normal when not connected to the Wi-fi. Everything is pointing towards some setting on the router but I’ve tried everything I know of and getting no where.
