What happens to any 'added' or downloaded music after the six months free Apple Music expires?

You will not be able to access it, until you re-continue the subscription.

Hello there @Countycolin
Thanks for posting on the community.
If you cancel the Apple Music offer you will no longer be able to access the app.
If you have purchased anything from iTunes this will be unaffected.
You can find full information on the Apple Music subscription on the Apple site>
Thanks, Leanne

Just to expand a bit more on what I mentioned earlier, on what happens if you do not renew or if you cancel the Apple Music subscription.
Basically, any streaming music you've added to your library from the Apple Music catalog will no longer be playable, and you'll no longer be able to search through the streaming catalog or play custom playlists. (You have thirty days to reinstate your membership if you want to restore these tracks.) You'll also stop having access to Beats 1, Apple Music algorithmic radio, and custom artist content.
Hope this helps
