Smart number and esim

Am I right in thinking that smart number and esim are not compatible which is why I am not seeing the options for it?

Re: Smart number and esim

@acdeag  Can you try turning off iMessage and FaceTime and then  shut down and then restart the device.  Them have a look in the WiFi calling tab to see if anything has changed.  You can then re-enabled iMessage and FaceTime.

Re: Smart number and esim

@acdeag  Yes they are compatible.  As it’s only your number and iCloud account that are linked.

To be honest I wouldn’t use it as you’ll have issues with it.     You’ll answer a call on one device but a different device will still be ringing and the device you answered the call on will

not connect to the caller.    Don’t bother with it.

Re: Smart number and esim

I don’t see ant option for it, I can see calls on other devices, but that is dependent on your phone being in the same wifi network

Re: Smart number and esim

@acdeag. There’s no option for it as it’s not applicable.  It’s your number not if it’s a physical sim or esim.

You just need to enable it on your device.

Re: Smart number and esim

@acdeag  I’ve got to ask do you have other apple products?  If so are those of devices on the same apple account as you phone ?   are those other products compatible with the service ?  Are they running the latest software ?

Re: Smart number and esim

Yep, iPad Pro 2018 model and two Macs, all running latest software.

Do you have a physical sim as well?

Re: Smart number and esim

Yes. Smart number means the device iPad should be able to make calls when the phone is not nearby doesn’t it?

Re: Smart number and esim

Solved. You last question made me wonder whether the esim had to be the iMessage number and it does in order to use smart number, as I need my physical sim for iMessage I won’t be able to use it.

Thanks for for your help.
