I can't set up my new iPhone SE with lost iPhone 5S icloud account info.

I recently bought a new iPhone SE to replace a lost 5S. I'm trying unsuccessfully to set up the new phone with my existing icloud account information (rather than as a new phone). I've signed in with my existing Apple ID and password but I haven't received the verification code on my 'other devices' so can't progress any further with the set up. My iPad2 is running iOS 9.3.5  but the phone dialogue box states 'code will be sent to all devices running iOS 10.1'. Not sure how I can actually receive a verification code if my other devices aren't running iOS 10.1? Is the code being sent to my lost phone's SIM? New phone can receive voice calls so mobile number has obviously been transferred to the new SIM in the new phone. Help!

Re: I can't set up my new iPhone SE with lost iPhone 5S icloud account info.

Could you try this, but I think it may ask for the Recovery Key that you would have been given when you originally set up "two-step verification".

Go to here and log in with your Apple ID and password:

https://appleid.apple.com/#!&page=signin

On the Verify Your Identity screen, select "Can’t access your trusted devices"

  1. Go to the Security section and click Edit.
  2. Remove the device you no longer wish to use to verify your identity. If you have additional devices with Find My iPhone enabled, you can verify them as trusted devices. You can also add additional trusted phone numbers.

Please post back with how you get on.

Good morning @nickharr.

Please do follow the excellent steps @Fatboy71 has advised.

If this does not work for you,

Are you able to update the software on the iPad?

Thanks Smiley Happy

Thanks for the advice, it worked. I also temporarily removed the two step verification process while I was removing the old device.
