i have the Apple Watch series 3. When my iphone is turned off my Apple Watch connects to data absolutely fine. However when the phone is turned on it will not use data independently even if the data on my phone is switched off. Can I only use the data on the watch if my phone is switched off?
Thanks in advance!

This is currently not possible based on the priority Apple set. When the paired iPhone is nearby, it will always connect to the iPhone via Bluetooth, regardless of the mobile data connectivity on the iPhone.
It’s because when the watch is on LTE, you’ll be looking at less than 5 hours of standby time (from 100%). The LTE on the watch is designed for a workout, but main device to consume data, unfortunately 😞

yes ive phoned 3 times. I was told this morning by someone from EE that my data can only be used when the phone is off. Unfortunately I wasn’t aware of that when I bought it.

yes when the phone is on the data doesn’t work on the watch. If I turn the data on the phone off the watch does not recognise its own data.

@kayleighm When you’re testing this you’re not connected to Wi-Fi as well are you ?

no im not I turn that off. I turn both data and WiFi off to see if the watch will work without the phone connection but it won’t at all unless the phone is actually switched off.
