I signed up with EE almost entirely because of the wifi calling because the signal is so bad in our house. The staff in the shop assured me my phone, Samsung S7, was OK but did not explain there should be a wifi calling option in the settings. This setting is absent on mine. I have read about it being disabled by Samsung for some unlocked devices and all sorts of questions about it but no solution. Can anyone help?

Hi @CharlieMonk and welcome to the community.
So we can try and assist here on the community, could you dial *#1234# and tell us what the 3 lines of code say please and we can work out what firmware the device has.
We will then be able to see if your device is capable of WIFI calling.

Thanks for the response. I did not seem to be able to do this test. I first got the message 'ussd code running', then 'connection problem or invalid mmi code'. Does that mean anything to you?

It was supplied by a UK company (via Amazon) with all UK accessories.
I have been told that Samsung have disabled this feature for some unlocked phones but what I want to know is how to enable it.

I am now told by EE that because the phone was bought unlocked and not from EE it would not have the basic firmware to allow wifi calling and never can have it. Does that sound right?

You need either EE firmware or unlocked BTU UK firmware. Doesn't matter if you buy the handset from EE or not, My handset came from CarphoneWarehouse and I have Wifi Calling, No VoLTE mind but I'm not bothered by that.

Thanks for your help. Looking on line it seems to suggest that the 'unlocked BTU UK firmware' can replace the firmware on an existing phone such as my S7 and therefore get the wifi calling option. Is that so? It would certainly be my preference rather than having to exchange my perfectly good phone for a different one.
