"Mobile network state disconnected" on a new phone

I switched my SIM to a Galaxy S8 a couple of weeks ago, and it's been working fine until a day or two ago.

 

It now doesn't connect to the network, and under "SIM Card Status" I see:

 

Network: EE

Mobile Network State: Disconnected

Service state: In service

Signal strength: -88dBm 54 asu

Mobile voice network type: LTE

Mobile data network type: LTE

Roaming: Not roaming

 

I'm in my normal area where I get a good signal.

 

Wifi being off doesn;t affect this.

Right, turns out the big "Mobile data" button wasn't pushed, for flip's sake.

Can you connect to EE wifi calling service?

@slimdave , have you clicked on network checker at the bottom of this page to see if there is a problem in your area? You can also sign up to receive notifications if there are any problems.

It's a genuine new S8, via Amazon, and has been working fine.

 

Yes, wifi calling is fine.

Yes, it seems to be fine, and a family member with the same phone model and same PAYG sim etc has a working signal.

You cannot have wifi calling if you are on PAYG. Have you tried restarting your device?
