keep getting error msg after inputting new sim serial number

trying to do sim swap to my new samsung galaxy s7 followed all the instructions on screen entered the 5 digit pin recieved via text entered the new sim serial number when i click to confirm get an error msg tried this 3 times same thing happens each time. not surewhat going off any hints or tips to succesfully gey the sim swap completed?
