My Nexus 6p has been stuck on Android 6.01 since being 'fixed' by EE following the dreaded bootloop issue. Will Oreo (8.0) now resolve this issue? Also if it does, will I need to upgrade to 7 first before I'm able to upgrade to 8.0 or can I skip directly to 8.0?

My Nexus 6P updated to Oreo last night.
Why haven't you upgraded it to 7 then? Has it not notified you of an update or have you just avoided it? If it's not notified you of any updates, it may not update to 8 either. I'd try a manual flash, after backing everything up.

If you haven't got Android 7 then you won't get Android 8.
I would do a factry reset to see if it jigs into play.

@pinback06 So you do get the notifications to upgrade it, but you've been ignoring them?
It's hard to say what would happen but personally I'd go for a full factory reset first and then manually perform the upgrade. There are plenty of Android forums to help if there's an issue. It's very hard to completely brick a phone nowadays.

It may be your phone.
But you will need to upgrade to 7 before you upgrade to 8 unless you flash it manually.

@chistery did you have Android 7 on your 6P?
Did it get stuck in a bootloop?

When it got stuck in a botloop did you try a hard factory reset?

EE would revert it back to 6 as the upgrade may have corrupted.
Did EE specifically tell you not to upgrade to 7? As I find this rather bodged job from EE if they did.

Indeed. I'd be concerned about having ignored patches for months. There are lots of vulnerabilities and one of the benefits of Nexus devices is they get fixed quickly.

Poor on EE or their contracted repair centre part.
