Can you provide some more information such as what device you have, are you in the UK, when did this problem start?
Have you checked EE Network Status Checker?

Have tried text and number as suggested but nothing works tells me unable to contact that number. Checked outtake UK bad and France but could not find Greece which is where I am. Was working perfectly well until yesterday evening!

Have you restarted your device?
Are you on PAYG or pay monthly contract.

Log into your on line account and then Menu - Manage Device - make sure you have activated roaming and international calls.
From the MyEE app Current Usage - Controls - activate use phone abroad and make international and premium calls
