Samsung S9 predictive text not working

I had an S9 delivered Friday and i just can't get predictive text to work for any message type, it's really starting to annoy me.

So far i've tried:

  • Restarting
  • Changing the keyboard to all the options
  • Changing language and back to English

 

Can anyone save me from this 1980 word processor-like experience? Never realised how much i relied on spellchecker.

Settings/General management/Language and input/ Onscreen Keyboard/ Samsung keyboard / Language and types/ Manage input language's. 

Download the language's you require.

Hope that helps. Certainly worked for me .

Excellent, the Manage option wasn't available until the firmware update
yesterday.

Mine works now.

Settings / Language & Input / Samsung Keyboard / Settings / Predictive Text ON.

 

Alternatively install SwiftKey.

The instructions to locate the keyboard settings were incorrect but I got the jist, and had already tried activating/deactivating multiple times.

 

The 3rd party keyboard - swiftkey - does give predictive text but it's a shame the native keyboards don't seem to be working. any tips on resolving the issue?

All Samsungs have slightly diff paths to the settings. I just hit the high spots, from which you got the gist. Good! Smiley Happy

The default Samsung one is under the "cog" icon on the keyboard smart typing - predictive text.  

 

I used to use swiftkey until the last update scrambled the predictive text (as with the samsung one) on certain websites, for example this one EE. I moved onto the Google one which is much better in my view, give it a try from the play store. 

 

 

 




To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 07953 966 250 from any other phone.

EE standard opening hours are 8am to 9pm weekday, 8am to 8pm on weekends.

So you don't think it's just you, I have the same predictive text issue on both my S9 and my wife's. 

 

I've also tried to reset the language and a few other things but to no avail.

 

Fortunately, I use SwiftKey but my wife really likes the Samsung Keyboard so I guess I will continue searching.

It seems the recent firmware update now allows us to download the languages through the 'manage input languages' section. Should fix the issue

Thank you  I had it set to English but it wasn't downloaded. I was getting all sorts of words popping up. It's solved the red line under all my words too.

I personally would go onto the texting page and top right corner the settings for txts I would try there 1st as it was there to find extra settings etc and on the call section was not only to block people but hide number too.

Can only try.
