Samsung S7 Edge EE battery drain issue after update

Hi All,

Is anyone here having a massive battery drain issue after the last 2 updates?

Mine has gone from 15 hours battery and 4-5 screen on time to 9 hours and 2 hours screen on time.

Which mean 10% battery drain with screen off every hour.

I have tried all the fixes which were available online such as disabling apps using package disabler and factory reset and had no luck.

Need help.

Thanks

Krupal

Re: Samsung S7 Edge EE battery drain issue after update

@mastermind131  your device is doing updates in the background to itself so obviously this will use processing power which will then drain the battery even quicker.  You need to give it a few days.

@mastermind131 Are you referring to EE updates or is your phone sim free and receiving them direct from Samsung?

Re: Samsung S7 Edge EE battery drain issue after update

Hi @mastermind131 and welcome to the Community.

It may be worth clearing the device cache and cookies incase there is any residual update files still in the background.

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Boot into recovery mode on Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge –
    1. Turn off the device.
    2. Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons simultaneously until you see an Android logo with a warning!
    3. Now Press Volume Up/ Down to enter into recovery mode.
  3. You’ll see following screen having list of options:recovery mode on Samsung Galaxy S7
  4. To clean system cache, select “Wipe cache partition” from the list of options and confirm it.
  5. Wait until it gets finished.
  6. Select ‘reboot system now’ to restart the device.

That’s all. I would like to mention that cleaning cache partition won’t be erasing any of your personal data or settings, it just takes out the handset memory that makes it freezing and slows it down. It won’t be interrupting your device in any way.

Hope this helps improve your device.

Many thanks,

Re: Samsung S7 Edge EE battery drain issue after update

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the reply.

I will give this a try. Just to mention one month ago i have already done a factory reset using the smart switch app and from there using the emergency phone recovery button. I am gussing this will wipe the cache partition as well?

I will keep you updated with the process.

Thanks again to everyone for the quick responses.
