This is so blatantly a Samsung software issue it's not funny, but does anyone else have a Galaxy A3 (2017) who's recently updated their email app to V6.0.01.11 and been having issues with the speed/reliability of POP3/IMAP sync? If so, I wouldn't mind comparing notes. There's a thread on the Samsung forum detailing some issues with this release, but curiosity is getting the better of me 🙂

Who's your email provider? What's to say it's not them? After all they are running the POP3 and SMTP servers.

That's an entirely sensible question, and to be fair I can't rule out an issue with the email provider 100%
It's a hosted email provider, they provide POP3/IMAP/SMTP for multiple mailboxes on my own domain, and the symptoms all point to something between the email app and server "going to sleep" after a period of time.
You're right - I can't rule out exactly what's inducing the snooze and it's not the problem of the century. But it does seem to have noticably started happening since the most recent Samsung email update - which, perhaps coincidentally, has since been rolled back on the various app stores.
