Samsung Flip Phone

Yes I know this is early. Way early.

So yesterday Samsung announced a phone without even revealing it.

From the announcement it looks really good. We didn't see the phone itself just the screen and how it folds. But I got sure would love to have a play with this once it is released.

A couple of months and Samsung say they should be able to mass produce the screen.

Of this comes out before the S10 it could be a real contender for my next phone.

What's everyone's thoughts?

Re: Samsung Flip Phone

Samsung's foldable phone sounds like a huge gimmick to be fair.

much like how the RED Hydrogen One's "3D" screen is just a massive gimmick.

I mean, it's quite cool to think that it could be a phone one second, then fold out to be the size of a tablet, but I would hazard a guess that in "phone mode" it will be tremendously bulky.

I personally think Samsung should focus on their "everything under the screen" technology first as they might end up being the first manufacturer to achieve a truly bezel-less, 100% screen-to-body ratio phone (or at least in the very high 90%s).

Re: Samsung Flip Phone

Don't forget the edge screen was once just a gimmick.

This will just test the market. I reckon it will be their S range in future. And maybe have no need for the note range.

Re: Samsung Flip Phone

@BrendonH

I think it'll be geared more toward the prosumer market personally.

you'll have your yearly run-of-the-mill flagship with incremental upgrades, then this model as a flagship+1. A bit like what Apple has done this year with all the "new" iPhones.

2018:

S9 = £740

S9+ = £870

Galaxy Note 9 = £900

Galaxy X = £1200

2019/2020:

S10 = £750

S10+ = £880

Galaxy Note X = £950

Galaxy X2 = £1250

or something.
