Restart issue since nougat update

Hello,

 

I received the OTA nougat update for my Galaxy S7 a few days ago. The update installed fine as far as I can tell.

 

However since the upgrade I've had a recurring random resetting issue, even when not using the phone. Occasionally it does not reboot automatically and requires a forced restart. In between restarts it works perfectly.

 

I've wiped the system cache, removed the memory card (as per EE advice) and tried a factory reset - which did not remove the nougat update.

 

Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! 

 

I'm trying to avoid going to an EE store (on that note if I got the phone from Carphone Warehouse, do I go to them or EE directly?)

Hi @huskydan and welcome to the Community.

 

The factory reset would not remove the nougat update. but it may remove any left over installation files that could cause an issue.

This is a known issue for nougat for the S7

Try this. I know you tried some of them but you didn't mention if you put it in safe mode or not.

Hello again, 

 

Unfortunately completing a reset and running the phone in Safe Mode has not prevent the house happening. 

 

Today the phone has been in Safe Mode and has restarted two or three times in the last hour. I've also noticed the phone getting quite warm just before it shutting down.

 

Any suggestions?

I understand the frustration with the issues you are still seeing.

 

 I would recommend popping to your local Samsung Support Centre or your place of purchase for them to have this looked at.

I would get in touch with Samsung. See what they suggest. 

 

I would tell them you have done all the clear cache factory restore etc before they tell you ton do it again.

Hello,

I contacted Samsung and Carphone Warehouse, both of whom offered to take
the phone in for repair/replacement.

Its with Carphone Warehouse as we speak, I'll get it back in 14 days so
hopefully I'll be able to update further then.
