New S9 asking for 4 digit code which I didn't set up

Just got a new S9 and setting up when sim not provisioned displayed. Husband took phone off me (trying to fix it) turned off phone and now it's asking for 4 digit security code when I only set up finger scan. Can anyone assist as phone is not letting me do anything until code is entered. Thank you.

Sorted now. Contacted EE who passed us to Samsung for support. The 4 digit pin was never set up but only way to reslove was to reset. Nothing lost and phone fully set up now. Thank you for veryone's suggestions. 😊

Re: New S9 asking for 4 digit code which I didn't set up

When you set up a finger print scan on Samsung phones it asks you to set a 4 digit pin as back up.

This will be the pin.

Also when you turn the device off and on again the first time to unlock you have to use the pin.

If you forgot this pin the only way in is to do a factory reset.

Thank you. I remember it was only the finger scan. I didn't set up a pin. I wasn't even finished the set process, when my husband thought he would be helpful. The sim was in the correct way, but there was a message about the sim, promting him to take it out to double check, then turn the phone off. Thank you for your help.

You cannot set up a fingerprint without putting in an alternative. If you didn't do it then your husband must have put in a pin.

Try the usual suspects 0000, 1111 or 1234.

Will not be any of these. This is a pin that was set up.

You can't add a fingerprint without doing so.
