My new s8 telling me it has system update but fails to update every time

Got a new s8 upgrade yesterday, since leaving the EE store the phone has told me there is a software update but every time I try to do the update it gets to 7.98/486.25MB and freezes then after 5 minutes or so I get a message telling me it has failed 'unable to update the software. A network or server error occurred. Try again later'

 

Any ideas?

Hi, 

 

Go into recovery and clear the cache, It will then update as normal. 

 

Also try updating with the Samsung PC software.

Have you tried turning the device off and back on again and then trying to do the software download manually?

 

Update phone software

 

It's recommended that you update your phone with the newest software, as the manufacturer continuously corrects errors. It's a good idea to back up the phone memory first. Before you can update the phone software, you need to set up your phone for internet.

 

 

From the homescreen

 

Slide your finger downwards starting from the top of the screen as shown above.

 

Tap Settings >>> Tap Software update >>> Tap download updates manually

 

Then follow the prompts to download the software.

 

Let me know if this works.

I have had a similar problem and this doesn't fix it. Any idea? Do I need to perform a factory reset?

I spoke to Samsung and was advised to install Smart Switch app onto my PC and then connect my phone to the PC by USB the PC would then tell me that the phone needed updating and download the update via PC, I tried this and it appears to have fixed my problem
