Have you used it in a damp/humid environment? Gym? Steam?
Make sure your power connector is dry.

It's does apply to myself. It shows on the top navigation bar on the left as a tear drop type symbol. Contacted EE who have suggested taking it into a shop. It did go off for a day or two then returned. My phone has not been wetter or submerged.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
It doesn' matter if you got it wet or submerged.
It can go off in humidity.
Do you take your phone into the shower room when you have a shower or bath? This can trigger it.
Rain can if it drops on the right place.

It may also be a small speck of something conductive caught in the charger port. The handset will detect the short circuit and give you the message.
You could try turning off the phone. Use a small clean and dry paintbrush to gently clean the port. Do not be tempted to blow into the port as you'll be blowing warm humid air into it.
PS You'd be amazed how often glitter etc can get into a phone.
