I'm in South America and can't send messages or make calls

I am travelling in South America, before I went away I moved from contact to pay as you go. I need to send a message every 3 months to keep my number alive but I cant send messages or make calls. I can receive messages though.

have you tried selecting another network ?

@MattRoberts pay as you go accounts are automatically enabled for roaming.

Yes I have tried manually selecting a network, I am currently in Bolivia but also tried in Argentina and Chile, all on different networks with no luck

Have you got credit on your pay as you go account?

 

You will not be able to make or receive calls without this, it will also prevent you from sending texts but allow you to receive text messages.

Yes I have credit and to be sure added an additional £10 on to my account 3 days ago
