@Jammerboy   Are you a contract or PAYG customer? If on PAYG you need credit to pay for the text as your pack allowance doesn’t cover this.  And if on contract you need to enable call abroad and premium rate numbers on your EE online account.

In addition to the good advice given earlier:

International calls & texts to overseas nos. from UK can be rather expensive but EE has a free add-on that anyone, on PAYG or contract, can apply for to give these calls & texts at a fraction of the standard rates. See The Free CALL ABROAD Add-on for Cheap Calls/Texts from UK .

E.g. To Australia:

  • On contract a standard rate text of 65p would cost 18p with CALL ABROAD.
  • On PAYG a standard rate text of 25p would cost 10p with CALL ABROAD.
  • The savings are even greater on calls:
  • On contract a standard rate call of £3/min would cost at most 20p/min with CALL ABROAD.
  • On PAYG a standard rate call of £1/min would cost at most 10p/min with CALL ABROAD.
