Re: Huawei P20 Pro Software Update

For anyone querying the update, it is the pie update and as I've stated it should be released to all by the end of the month.

The firmwares numbers are different between the single sim and dual sim models

Re: Huawei P20 Pro Software Update

Still no update.

Might as well do it manually.

I was going to use the method you suggested (thanks for that), but realised I would need an ethernet adapter for my Macbook in order to use it as a hotspot. Not willing to fork out the £30.

Could you not find a kind person to lend you a laptop for an hour or so?

I'm really enjoying Pie. There are some subtle improvements over Oreo. For example, I couldn't change notification sounds on some apps such as Outlook. That's been fixed. My phone feels faster and I think battery life is slightly better.

Please could you confirm the full firmware version numbers of the EE update? Thanks.

Re: Huawei P20 Pro Software Update

It arrived after a couple of days anyway luckily.

Definitely feel like my phone is smoother now and battery life has been improved a lot, it had deteriorated a fair bit before this update.

Also prefer the white background on the notification panel.

I would highly recommend the method explained by @Mrtigger earlier in the forum. Be prepared to wait an or so for the download and then another 30 mins for the firmware to flash. All settings and files will be preserved, but best to back up anything important, just in case!

Ah that's great! Sounds like most people will have it by now then it pretty soon. Please could you confirm the version number? I'm just curious to see if it the same as the one in firmware finder. Thanks.

Re: Huawei P20 Pro Software Update

Yeah same as firmware finder (168). I think updates do normally follow what's shown there i.e. we jumped straight to 8.1.0.159 rather than some of the earlier versions with GPU turbo. Think it just reflects the versions that have been made available to EE.

Thank you. That's what I have from FF.

Re: Huawei P20 Pro Software Update

159 is dual sim version

168 is single sim version

The versions are on FF as this does is get the details from Huawei servers.

There is no point anyone using FF to get the update as its coming OTA anyway. And would never recommend anyone from getting through FF either.

Enough..

I've already stated on this thread why I wouldn't recommend using FF to install firmware on devices, so no need for me to say why again.

So just move on..

Re: Huawei P20 Pro Software Update

Has anyone actually received an OTA update to pie on EE yet?

Re: Huawei P20 Pro Software Update

Nope, still nothing. No surprise really.

@Mrtigger - I was reading your instructions on how to do the FirmwareFinder upgrade, but I got lost at the 'Hotspot' bit - I am guessing you are using a Wifi chip on a laptop in order to route the phone's connection through to the external DNS server for the update?

I only have ethernet connections on my computers, so may have to take my work laptop home and use that instead, or re-configure my home router's DNS I suppose?

Cheers.
