How did BT Sport get installed on my phone?

My phone updated yesterday 1st from, I presume, Android/Google, followed closely by a security update.

Not only has some of my settings reverted back to "spy on you" mode but BT Sport also got installed.

I just want to know who it was that installed this app, which I don't want, and why they did it without my permission....was it EE or Android?

@marvo_man   Seeing as the BT sport app is not from EE or Google then neither of them installed it on your device.

Thank you for this super-duper really useful answer to my question.

Fyi, I did uninstall it as soon as I noticed it but thanks anyway.
