Android pay / S8

I have a S8 on EE.

For the life of me I cannot get android pay to work.

I either get an undisclosed card error, or 2 beeps at the terminal If it has worked but it has not and the terminal screen had not moved.

In the house we have a Galaxy S7 and a Oneplus3 that can use this same registered card no problems.

I have uninstalled the app and re registered the card. Same effect.

By chance I have also reset the S8 and re setup, same effect.

I have tried numerous vendors, all the same.

It's one of those things I take for granted now and was using every day. Any help gratefully received.

Cheers

Re: Android pay / S8

Hi @Bosshogg,

Welcome back to the EE Community.

Have you rooted your phone or unlocked the bootloader?

Thanks

Re: Android pay / S8

Hi James

Thanks for the reply.

No , phone stock. Not rooted and boot loader still locked.

I believe under those conditions that the app would not run anyway.

It runs and I can successfully add my card.  I can then use that card manually when the app fails.

As said same card on many other devices is ok with Android pay.

The terminal does beep, but stays on the original screen.

Re: Android pay / S8

Hi @Bosshogg

This does sound very strange, please may I know if you have taken a look at the Android pay troubleshooting guide?

Many thanks,

Re: Android pay / S8

Hi Lee.

I was going to say " the help pages are generic nonsense" but I followed them never the less.

You might be right. Turns out my phone had changed the default tap n pay to Samsung Pay.

Changed it back to AP and will report back tomorrow when I get a chance to use it.

Thanks for replying.

Re: Android pay / S8

Hi Lee,

Yes, problem was Samsung Pay had made itself default.

Used AP successfully today.

Now uninstalled SP as it's pretty useless in the UK atm anyway.

Thanks again for the reply.

Re: Android pay / S8

AP and SP is useless for me as Barclays won't support them. Had confirmation from HO. Due to having their own contactless payment feature within their app.

Anoying on my part.

Re: Android pay / S8

Yes, very annoying. As AP works great and I have found myself using it daily.

Fortunately, the 2 biggest banks over the wall here ( RBS and BOS) are supported and we use them both.

Hope Samsung Pay catches up soon to give more choice.

Re: Android pay / S8

RBS and BOS will defiantly be supported just give it time.

I get the feeling Samsung wasn't ready to release yet but growing pressure meant they needed to. It is a year late after all.

But I heard it was the UK banks holding out on this and I won't be surprised if Barclays is the culprit in this.
