Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

3-6 months behind the rest of the 7 series of devices is pretty unacceptable. Even Samsung were not this bad with EE

The OnePlus community to our questions on the forum has been disgraceful question and questions was asked no one answered them

Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

I hit the 6 month early upgrade point in early December. I'll be switching to a Pixel 4 then for £100. OnePlus and EE should be embarrassed by this whole debacle; their lack of communication, planning and delays are straight out of the Brexit playbook.

I honestly wonder why the 5G variant gets less support? I mean, it's the
exact same phone, but with a 5G modem.

Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

Is there anyway we can get EE to come on here and help out with this fiasco as we have a premium device and we are being let down. If it was a apple device maybe ee would be all over it ?

Right people officially it's has been confirmed that it will released at some point in q1 2020. This is awful. I am so disappointed. In. Boh companies

Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

I had a call back from EE after tweeting them about this to see what my options were. Cut a long story short, I can't get out of my contract due to the lack of updates so they recommended logging an official complaint so that my voice could be heard. Obviously the more people that do this the better as my single voice will do very little.

I knew I'd no chance on the call as the person said that they don't really get android as they have an apple I think a big issue is I and probably all bothered with this are serious android users interested in the manufacturers who offer the freedom to flash, tinker and be at the forefront of android software releases. This has not been the case with this phone.

Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

The CEO had now posted on the OnePlus forums regarding the update issue. Appears they may be having issues developing software as it's 5G.

Bit annoyed as haven't even got this phone for 5G, on a 4G contract. Assumed that it would be the same as the standard 7pro (which EE don't sell).

Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

I'm in the same boat.

I only got the 5G Pro because EE don't sell the standard Pro.

Now I'm stuck with a device that won't be updated on the same rate as the Non 5G while I can't even use 5G because my area wont be 5G until 2021.

And the price went down by £5 a month 2 weeks after I bought it.

Not happy! 😞

Hi @Moni4

Welcome to the EE Community,

The One Plus 7 Pro 5G is exclusive to EE and is due to be updated in Q1/20.

the 4G model has already been updated.

Thanks,

David.

Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

OnePlus CEO has admitted they are having issues with Android 10 on the 5G model.

So your friend must have the 4G model seeing as hes on a different network and the 5G is exclusive to EE

Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

Although OnePlus are able to release the 7t McLaren 5G model with android 10...EE should really be asking questions of the company they decided to exclusively release a phone with who then completely drop support for.

Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

@Gramil  Oneplus haven’t dropped support for that device and that’s a very wild accusation to make, the update is coming in Q1 of 2020.

Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

@Chris_B okay dropped is probably a bit harsh but I've always had nexus/Google devices so always had beta release and first to stable so to be right at the back of the queue from a manufacturer that seems to pride itself on quick releases has been a bit of a shock.

Do you think it's acceptable to be on an outdated security release and for a new 5G model to be released with android 10 when we're being told that they aren't able to release ours until Q1 (if they stick to the dates this time)?

Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

It's exclusive to EE on contract. Very capable of ordering in the 7 Pro 5G in sim free.

Just proving that the update has nothing to do with carrier, down completely to OnePlus and there very poor support they've provided with the 5G devices. If they could release the McLaren 5G with A10 absolutely no reason why they couldn't release A10 for the 7 5G. It's tactical upgrade to push people to the more expensive device.

It still caused me to cancel my contract with EE and no longer be a customer of there's as they haven't been helpful with it either.

I would strongly urge EE to consider there contract with OnePlus as there have been many many whom have left EE due to OP and went to other networks. I happily cancelled losing all my perks and bt sport just so I didn't need to deal with OP service or EE again.

Re: Android 10 Update date for pay monthly OnePlus 7 Pro 5g?

@SeanTheGun

Can I ask where he got the sim free 5G model as even on the OnePlus website it directs you to EE.

Carphonewarehouse is only selling it on EE.

I assume the friend had the 4G model because the CEO has stated no 5G model is getting android 10 until Q1 in 2020. So unless he has downloaded an android 10 style firmware from XDA and flashed the phone it is not going to be the official firmware.
